The Smiles of the Symphony

by Kirstin Myers

Understandably, Frances and I have been fielding a lot of questions about our experience at Abbey Road and working with the London Symphony Orchestra. The best way I can describe it is that it was simply surreal. It was incredibly humbling to walk into such an iconic venue and to be surrounded by elite musicians at every turn.

One of the questions we're frequently asked about the LSO musicians is, “What were they like?”

I think there's an assumption that orchestral musicians - especially those of this caliber - are, for lack of a better word, "stuffy." And, certainly, during a time of global unrest, we were a bit nervous about the reception we would receive. However...

The musicians of the London Symphony Orchestra were incredibly kind and gracious. We were immediately made to feel at ease not only by the LSO musicians and staff, but by the staff at Abbey Road as well.

Frances and I both agree that our experience couldn't have been better. So we decided to put together a short video montage to give you a glimpse of the joy that abounded throughout the recording sessions that day.

These were genuinely wonderful people, and we couldn't be more grateful.
